I am in the middle of a new build and the last piece to this awesome puzzle is a new monitor. I'm looking for a 23-24" widescreen monintor to do normal web surfing, possibly some gaming and watching the occasional movie.

conditions:
- under $250 shipped
-native resolution of 1920x1080
-hdmi, dvi and vga needed

From what I have read and compared I think the ASUS VH236H would be a pretty good for me but I want to get some other suggestions before I pull the trigger.

here is the link to that monitor

Try the Acer H233H Bmid or the ASUS VH242h. They're both about $199.

I would avoid ordering monitors from e-tailers, though. The return policies aren't nearly as good as your neighborhood Best Buy, Staples, or Micro Center.

(By the way. You can grab the Acer X233H Bd for about $145 at Staples. It's the exact same as the H233H Bmid except it doesn't do either HDMI or DVI--I've forgotten which. It also doesn't have the retarded set of speakers on the rear of the panel, either. It's lighter and its panel is matte as opposed to glossy, it also lacks the obnoxiously glittery stand that the H233H comes with.)

Hmm, I am awake that ordering online could be bad for a dead pixel problem. I checked the x233h on newegg and the pictures show hdmi, dvi and vga. I definitely need to check out staples first. Thanx

Yeah. The X233 retails for $20 cheaper than the H233 (because of the speakers and its glossy paneling), which brings it down to $179, but you can buy a $30 off coupon for $4.95 from online for Staples purchases. That knocks the price of the monitor down to $155. I forgot where the coupons were, though. I'm sure a quick Google search would reveal them for ya.
