Post in the LCD thread in Video Cards and Graphics, xtknight can help you out. You'll need to specify some more than just the size and usage though (most importantly your budget). If your number one priority is response time/input lag and you don't really give a crap about having the best image quality, there are plenty of cheap TN panels.

I got a used HP p1230 for 50 bucks and it does alright. Havent owned enough 22 inchers to make a good contribution here.

Used to have a Phillips 109B and it was awesome. But at 19 inches I felt kinda limited. Now I can game at 2048x1536 (thanks to my Radeon 4870) and life is pretty sweet.

It also makes Baldurs Gate 2 look nice.

I saw over at the HF there is a code for the L226WTQ-BF for $209 at NewEgg. Not sure if its still good or not though. The thread was dated 2 days ago. Great price if its still valid. Promo Code: EMCBABGAB supposedly.

1680x1050?
That is not a gaming monitor.
If you insist on widescreen (and an LCD) for gaming, get at minimum 1920x1200.
At the very least you will be able to run older games at 1600x1200 without them looking like crap.

Never occured to me...

That's what I thought buying my iiyama 22", does the job, excellent value, the contrast and darks are good enough for movies, too.
