Best 21" Monitor ?

1)
Whats the best 21" monitor out there. I want good image quality and high resolution (min 1600x1200). Needs good refresh rate (75+ at 1600x1200). Price needs to be reasonable (I've got about a 500 spendin limit here).Tell me what you think. I've been lookin at some KDS monitors and some Sony Trinitrons. I wanna hear what ya'll have to say.

2) I've got a 3D Lab Annihilator 2 MX. It defaults at 175/286 (64bitDDR). I got it to run stable for about 3 hours of Deus Ex MAXED OUT - 220/360 before it froze. I'm running perfectly stable at 220/333. This seems high as the Nvidia o/c program in display panel maxes out at 220/360. The card came with 0 cooling so I put on a cheapie heatsink and a 486 fan and some radioshack paste. Do I got an extremely good o/c card or Is this expected?

Hey Tonec, does it limit it that way because its DDR? I don't use Coolbits, I use a proggie called NVMax and it lets me push mine way too high. My cheapie Hercules Prophet II MX is at 199/199 only because I get some graphic anomolies in Need for Speed High Stakes at any higher. I put a decent heatsink/fan on it and put the old heatsink on the ram. I can get it up to over 210/210 before any lockups. Putting a real heatsink fan on it sure keeps it much cooler. BTW whose bright idea was it to put the chips on the side facing down on the AGP slot? Seems a little on the duh side of life.

I doubt you'll find a new 21" Trinitron monitor for around $500, but you can check Pricewatch for deals on 21" shadowmask monitors. Sony make excellent monitors, but I'd suggest you read some reviews on both Sony and KDS before you make a decision (I've had nothing but bad luck with KDS monitors). Try Epinions.com or CNET for reader reviews.

If you were looking for a monitor that was under 500, you could be like me and buy a 21" for 360. It was refurbished but I use it as a second monitor to watch movies while I work on my Viewsonic 21". The refurbished one is a NEC.

thx

I have a 21" HP monitor from an Auction site that i have had for almost a year now. I paid $550 for it refurbished, its a 1600 res 25mm dot pitch 85 mhz refresh rate and also a Trinitron tube. This is one of the best buys i have made for my comp and i couldnt be happier. I have seen 21" monitors sell at the site for as litle as $350. They sold some IBM with Trinitron tubes with almost the exact same specs as mine. Now if i was only allowed to post the site here but i cant. 🙁

I got a 20" IBM P200(1600 resolution, .25 dot pitch) at a computer show. It was $200. I love it. Unless I become a millionaire, I am always going to by my moniters used from now on. Just make sure it works good before you by it so you dont have to hassle with bringing it back.
