Best 20" (viewable) CRT for undr $700?

I just returned a Viewsonic G220fb because it hade too much curvature on the top on bottom of the image, lousy white saturation and an irritating moire I couldn't make go away. My budget for a new CRT is $700 but no one reviews them anymore so I am looking for any recommendations?

I would consider a 19" LCD but my system is a gaming rig so I still think CRT would be best.

dude, have you looked into a dell 2001FP or a 2005? it'll do just fine for gaming

This is true, I just got a Dell 2005FPW, and HL2 and UT2004 are sweet in widescreen. True, the response time is not that of a CRT, but it is certainly more than acceptable. Besides the stunning clarity of text on this LCD is untouchable by any CRT I have ever used.

Either way you decide to go, $700 is more than enough to get you a sweet CRT or an LCD from Dell.I think the most expensive 21" NEC CRT on newegg is still under $700, and you can get the prices way down on Dell LCD's if you find a 25% off coupon and wait for an additional $40-50 off stackable coupon. Seven hundred American dollars? I'd just buy a 20" LCD for that money.

Heck, can't you get one of those widescreen 24" Sony CRTs for $700 by now? If you're going to stick with CRTs on that budget, you might as well go all out.

a 22" ince crt is all out, the LCD is the compramise, because it won't perform as well as a crt you can get for this price. you just save on space, ie compramise

I looked into LCDs but I just can't get over the locked in resolution and the limited color depth. If I had $1000+ to spend I might take the plunge for a 20" but for now I still think CRT is the way to go (real estate isn't a problem). So I ordered a NEC Multisync FE2141SB-BK. I think the clarity it offers will be more than adequate.
