None of the above in the poll. The NEC20WMGX2 is hands down the BEST 20" WS LDC out there. 6MS response time, 1600:1 contrast ratio, it's like a slim CRT without the flickering and harshness.

EDIT: I have one.

EDIT2: only $719 right now @ Buy.com

Bingo.

I won't vote for those listed, but I suppose the BenQ or Viewsonic would be okayish as an alternative.

ugh good lord. I'm having an extremely difficult time trying to justify it, almost twice the cost and for possibly only a little improvement?

The VX2025 will probably be ok for what you're trying to do. The 90GX2 is quality wise a better monitor than the VX2025 and it's in your price range, but it's 19".

I bought the 90GX2. Very fast 19 incher, TN display though - which means viewing angles and blacks will be worse than on the P-MVA-based ViewSonic. Keep this in mind. Still, I recommend this monitor.

My budget was pretty much unlimited, I wanted a great LCD for gaming but also other tasks, I'm not a newb, I did TONS of research concerning LCDs and I think I know a crapload about them, I'm coming straight from a high end CRT, and... I chose the 90GX2.

This means something :D

Oh, did I mention I was a sworn enemy of the glossy coating? :D

As for 20" widescreens, I would of course choose the NEC 20W(M)GX2. From the poll, the ViewSonic is the best.

If you cant justify the cost of the NEC, go with the Dell 2005 and be done with it..

I personally think the dell is better than all those monitors listed in the poll.
