best 2.1 computer speakers?

I'm hardly an audiophile, but I've been using the 2.1 Klipsch ProMedias for 6 months, and I think they're terrific. Try to take a listen to those before you buy. I think I got mine for ~$140 USD. IMO, they are great for music (I don't game)....

You know as well as I do that you don't have to limit yourself to computer speakers 😉

There are some other options besides the Klipsch and Logitech mentioned.

Altec Lansing has a couple 2.1 sets.
Cambridge Soundworks has some options.
Swan makes a 2.0 set that you could add a subwoofer to if you wanted more bass.
Klipsch has a 2.0 set as well.

If your budget is $100 or less though, z-2300s are a good set. If the $60 AR deal is still going on, I don't think you're going to find anything better.

Well, I'm not completely thrilled with my options. The Mac Cube I'm putting these on came with some sweet round, clear Harmon Kardon USB speakers, but rather than buying an iSub to match them, I'd rather upgrade to a better system. This means that I need a decent USB sound card. Griffin's upgraded iMic looks like the best option. For some reason I don't think I'm going to get super hi-fidelty sound out of this setup, so I'd rather just go with some computer speakers than a complete blow-your-socks-off system. Although I am considering it. I'm saving up for a 23" Apple display, so I'd like something to match those and the Cube visually. The z-2300s look like a decent match, and having had the z-2200s, I'm expecting pretty awesome bassy sound from them. What speakers would you recommend to match the Apple setup in looks?

The only thing I don't like about my Klipsh Promedia 2.1 is that fact that the switch is on the sub. Unless they've changed this on the newer ones, this is something to keep in mind. Other than that, they are great.

The on/off switch?

If you have some basic skills and have some free time to dedicate to a project there are some really good kits available that you can finish any way you want.

If not the best sounding 2.1 system that would blend well with a Mac would have to the Klipsch iFi.

I was going to suggest the Klipsch iFi as well for a set that would match decently.

You can get a refurb set for $199 from Klipsch's site, their ebay store, and I think sam's or costco also has them for $199 (Check Hot Deals).
