Im going to college and am torn between the Klipsch Pro Media 2.0's and others like the Creative GigaWorks T20 2.0's I know there are others, the Amazon reviews are all over the board for both, what are your guys #1 choice for 2.0's? Thanks.

2.0 or 2.1? If you are wanting 2.1, I would definitely give the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1's a look. They are great sounding speakers, and I love their ability to give good bass even at ow volumes. And if you really need 2.0 and not 2.1, I guess you could just not connect the sub (if you can do that), although it would be very pointless.

Yeah I need 2.0's because I can't be haulin around a sub across the country, any word on the Klipsch 2.0's the Amazon reviews are massivley skewed and unreliable.

If that is the case, then I would look at getting a good set of headphones.

I get pretty good sound from the JBL Duet I just bought. Yeah, they're small and not too expensive but I didn't want something too powerful, my neighbor is a pain in the butt.

I don't know if you want to research Behringer MS20 but they seemed OK from what I've seen. I think bananas.com had them and even ships to Canada. Or, actually wwbw.com has good shipping to Canada as well.

I would tell you to forget desktop speakers and get a pair of turtle beach earforce 5.1 headphones.

A pair of these would be amongst your higher-end options. The main problem here is you're gonna need to make a fair bit of desk space.

M-Audio StudioPro 4 for $130.00 is pretty good deal. There are a few other monitors for under $200 on Sweet Water that may be worth looking at but the M-Audio's are a pretty good deal.

First of all, I should probably mention that I'm not really an audiophile. That being said, I have the Klipsch Promedia 2.0 and think they're fantastic. My reason for going 2.0 was 1) space and 2) I couldn't stand the boomy bass from 2.1 sets, or at least 2.1 sets in my price range. I keep the bass knob about halfway up and this is perfect for me. Obviously it doesn't shake the walls, but it's enough to add some good depth to your tunes.

I've heard both and would disagree.

I think it depends on what you're trying to do.

For sound quality I think it goes
Headphones
Monitors
PC speakers

For what a lot of guys I knew in the dorms want to do with their system (get really loud to the point of annoying people) then the order gets reversed :p

i don't have first hand experience of klipsche, it's just an example. high end $200 computers speakers > low-end studio monitors

read that three times friend.

Headphones, however great, will never stand up to true monitors. Budget monitors, sure. But headphones are for people who can't afford to live how they want.

O.P... do you happen to have access to a stereo receiver? You could build a mini-monitor kit.

Nah, sorry guys but this is really for a just bang up 2-3 year set of 2.0 comp speakers, Im interested in finding the "best" pc speakers there are for around 150-200 Im not looking to build out a mini monitor kit or anything, this isnt a studio, just a drom that will be watching movies, playing games and listening to iTunes. I kinda want speakers, I mean I already have some pretty nice headphones but the point here is 'speakers'.
