My dad is taking my old monitor because his broke, so I need a new monitor. My old one was a 19" but it was of very low quality (KDS X-Flat) So basically I'm looking for a good monitor, likely CRT which I prefer. I was thinking maybe the Viewsonic P95F+B.

forget about crt, there are no real advantages to it anymore.unless you are a grafic artist getting paied $500/h. look for a quality 19" lcd with 24bit color and 25 or less responce time.

One clear advantage remains remains price. NEC/Mitsubishi makes the best crts. Diamondtron is a name I hear often. You can get a 22" graphic artist quality crt now for between 500-700. There was also a a post in Hot Deals recently for a cheap nec/mitsu and I think it was 19". Lo0k it up there.

I just picked up the UltraSharp dell 19"fp (i think model 1905fp).

Anyway I am typing on it now, in native resolution hooked up DVI to my graphics card. So far I love it. I paid 377 for it, and could not be happier. It replaced an older 19" CRT which was having picture problems.

If he does not have the money, you shoul ask around to anyone who has recently bought a new system which came with a FP. I am sure they have the old CRT in the basement or something.

I know I personally have 3 17" CRTS collecting dust. Next computer recycling day I am there.

I'm using the G75F+B. I know it's 2 inches smaller and the Graphics series doesn't match the Pro series, but I've been happy with my purchase thus far :)

Also look at the Viewsonic G90fb, around $200. That way you could play games at 1600x1200. A 19 in LCD would cost a lot more but only has a native resolution of 1280X1024. People with LCDs act like they are so cool and anyone who buys a CRT is so yesterday. Until the prices come down, the resolution goes up and response times get lower, I'll stick with a CRT. Thank you very much.

By the way most CRT 19" youre only getting 18" of viewable useable screen. usually less, as opposed to LCD where if it says 19, or 20 or whatever, thats exactly what you get. So in effect a 19" LCD is like a 20" CRT.

Sorry you took offense. Please post a link to this wonderous device aeternitas. Oh, and don't forget that it needs to achieve 1600x1200, have a response time < 25ms. This guy was asking about a CRT. He didn't need you opinion AND try to watch your fingers.
