Well, my KDS-190VS just died on me. :disgust:

I have read in quite a few different places about people having similar problems. Unfortunately, the same has happened to me as well less than 6 months after I bought it.

Ah well, live and learn.

so, if you have a 19" monitor, please tell me about it. I'm looking for personal experiences, as I trust these FAR FAR more than I trust online reviews. I am quite well aware of pricewatch.com and ibuyer.net, etc. so I don't need references to those (unless you know of a particularly killer deal!)

Again, what I'm after is personal experiences only

So here's your chance to brag/bitch about your big 19 incher!

thanks!

why dont you demand them to replace your dead unit with a AV-195TF? a hella nicer monitor (notice i previously used to own a VS195, not a bad monitor itself so i know what the difference is) they might call you lunatic but hey who knows if you can find a real nice CSR :D

Aperture grill(e?): Samsung 900NF, KDS AV-195TF.

Shadow mask: Samsung 900IFT, Hitachi Ergoflat models (CM771 is one of them I think), possibly the Samsung 955DF is lower refresh rates don't both you.

Most of those run between $400-$450.

Give KDS a call anyway. I had a friend who's KDS monitor was dieing. They sent him a new one, before he sent the broken one back. He didn't have his receipt, either.

Anyway, I can't say enough good things about my Viewsonic PF790.

I got my Samsung SyncMaster 955DF for $257 from Onvia. It was originally a great price, plus $25 off $200 coupons (now they have $50 off $200 I believe), 10% off from Pointclick, and a rebate from Samsung.

This monitor is sweet! Perfectly flat.

I've had a Viewsonic PF795 for 4 months and it's awesome. Saved 100 buks over the same kind of Sony model and I like the idea that it can do ALL the resolutions and then some that my GeForce DDR card can put out. BNC connections are a plus also. If you can get it at about the same price as a PF790 that is the way to go as this monitor specs out a lot higher.

I paid like 498 buks for it from onvia, but you might want to check prices as they have gone up there recently. At the time the PF790 from some retail vendors here locally like Best buy was the same price.

Wingnut, what was wrong with your friend's KDS?

If I remember correctly, it was a brightness issue. It was incredibly dark, and got darker by the day.

Robotech,
All they need from you is the Serial Number, Model Number and purchase date.
No questions asked after that. If the monitor is less than one year old, you get a new one. If it is older you get a refurb replacement.
