I'm looking to buy a 19" flatscreen monitor and I have about $300 to spend. I'm not sure what I should buy. If you have suggestions or links to online monitor comparisons, I'd really appreciate your input.

Thanks a lot,
Epsilon

I just got a Samsung 900NF. I absolutely love it. I think it was 325$ shipped. You can get a significantly cheaper one (with similar quality) if you plan on running anything below 1600x1200, though.

Hyundai imagequest F910. $230 shipped. This monitor is most definately underrated. I am running 1600X1200 @ 85hz which is rare in this price range. Only downside is that it is shadowmask and not trinitron but my opinion is its better then the cheap sub $300 trinitron monitors flying around

Every now and then Dell has the Dell branded M992 on sale. My friend picked one up for ~$220 shipped. Keep an eye out, the monitor is suppose to be very good.

Make sure you take a look at both aperture grill and shadow mask monitors in person before buying one. I find the two lines (Which are extremely thin) to be very annoying when viewing applications with light backgrounds. Most people can seem to ignore them, however, there are enough people who find them annoying that I would at least see one before making the purchase. It's much harder to notice the lines in games unless you are trying.

As a side note, while you're checking out the different types of tubes you should check out different brands of monitors. Seeing monitors in person helps you make the best decision. If my friend didn't purchase the monitor I have now before me then I wouldn't have bought mine. I assumed that the quality was not up to my standards because of it's low price; I was wrong. It isn't the greatest monitor, but I was willing to sacrifice a little quality for size.
