Best 17" CRT?

I've decided to go with a 17inch CRT. I play some games, but mostly I watch movies, program for school, and browse the web. What is a good CRT, I have about $350 to spend.

If you're willing to spend $350 you could definetly get a 19 inch monitor. I have the Sony 420 GS, which is about 2 years old. This is my second Sony monitor, and I think they are the best by far. Very clear image, very flat screen and nice colors.

I don't know Sony's current model numbers but I've seen one of their 19s for about $330. That's the 1 I would get.

PS - resist the urge to get a Viewsonic, they are just not as good.

I would like to get the 17" since it's smaller and it's easier to move around. I have seen the Sony 19" monitors and I'm quite impressed with those. Does Sony make any good 17" monitors?

I bought my 17" KDS Avitron AV7TF 6 months ago for like $230. It's got .24 dot pitch and max res is 1280x1024, and also uses a FD Trinitron tube from Sony. I LOOOVEEEEE this monitor. The quality is so damn good, I sometimes wet myself.

I've been using a Viewsonic PS790 for the past three years, and I really like it. It's a 19" monitor with an 18" viewable area, but it's designed with a shortened depth profile so it occupies the space of a 17" monitor. It's also a discontinued model, which means you should be able to find it for less than your $300 budget (although with monitor purchases, shipping will usually eat any discounts you can find).
