Hello.

I am looking around for an LCD for myself. I currently have a 17" MPC (Viewsonic Tube) .23 DPI monitor that I love, but I want to move my computer to a different desk that this monitor just will not fit on. So, if I am correct, a 15" LCD would be pretty close to equal to this size. I want to spend as far under $300 as possible, but want good image quality, and possible gaming (not a ton, but I also watch DVD's, so it's kind of important)

I would also like to know any personal experiences.

Thanks

Cody

I really doubt you will find many good LCD's for under 300. Ones you do find will be some no name brand and prolly not very good quality. I have owned a KDS Rad-5 and was very impressed with the picture quality with it until i had to replace it cause of pixel problems. I paid $400 for it. So, finding a good quality one under 300 may be pretty tough. I may be wrong though. Try pricewatch.

I agree that it u will be hard pressed to find a 15" LCD for under $300.00

I am extremely happy with my Viewsonic VG-150 LCD. No dead pixels and looks good to me for watching DVDs and playing games. Excellent 2D. Will be upgrading to an 18" or 19" LCD in the next few weeks however and moving the VG150 to my office machine.

The catch with lcd's is the latest tech is always in the biggest screens. This is of current importance because the latest screens have response times in the sub 25ms range - which seems to be the generally accepted minimum for gaming - while most 15"ers are closer to 50ms.

Among smaller screens the Compaq 7030 seems well liked, but its way over your limit. For your budget you will get a much better screen from a CRT; a $300 lcd is the cheapest anyone cares to sell, which inevitably means cutting every corner possible.. If you are determined to go that route you might look at Samsung - a few people here think well of them.

I ordered a Samsung 151s the other day from Dell based upon generally favorable reviews of their LCDs. The specs seem pretty solid and the price was ok... the pivot feature was a bonus.
