I'm on the quest for my perfect laptop to replace my Dell XPS 16" which I like except for the keyboard.

Here's what I'm looking for:
15.6 - 16.0" form factor
Backlit keyboard - standard or chiclet is fine
1600×1200 (UXGA) or 1920×1200 (WUXGA) resolution
Windows 7
Intel i5 Sandy or Ivy Bridge
Battery life, Video card, RAM & hard drive - not important
$800 - $999 after discounts, coupons, rebates, etc.

I'll consider any brand but I'm partial to Dell (Latitude), Lenovo (T/W series) and HP (EliteBook/ProBook) in particular their business-line laptops due to better build quality and support.
However I will consider other brands such as Asus, Acer, etc.

I almost bought this Dell Latitude E5520 until I read reviews of the keyboard and I didn't participate in the Dell/Amex $100 tweet promo :(

Not sure if you'll find a 1200 screen in a notebook 1080 seems the top unless you go to some high end custom which will be over your budget...then again, maybe you can build a custom sager check out xoticpc

how about n Asus N56VM? Might be a little overpowered in the graphics card department for you, but it is an ivy bridge box. Selling for $899 at Microcenter...didn't search otjher locations.

If you're a big touchpad user, the Dell touchpads can be a little quirky. I hear good things about the Asus touchpads but haven't tested in person yet
