Best 1156 Motherboard w/o SLI

Hey everyone,

I'm building a new system. Getting the i7 860 and going for 8GB of DDR3 2000 RAM. Will be getting a GTX 465 so I'm not interested in SLI. What motherboards would you recommend for this core setup? I've always been buying ASUS and will probably stick to them.

Thank you.

Most motherboards these days will have SLI support now, since SLI is supported on Intel Chipsets.

Since it looks like you're going pretty high-end, and you have your mind set on Asus, look at what P7P55D board is within your budget. Are you overclocking? What else are you going to have? What features do you want?

You've spent a fair bit already... Why not just get a good P55A board that just happens to have dual PCI-E's and if you feel like using SLI/Xfire in the future, you have it. I don't use Xfire on my system (single 4890) but I don't see why I would pigeon hole myself and not have it when already spending a lot on a modern system. It does not hurt anything to not use the feature on the board..

I will not be overclocking. Apart from the core parts mentioned, I'm going for a 650 Watt Corsair Power supply and will be running two HDs (one Raptor and one 650GB). Other than some USB peripherals and a 24inch screen, nothing more.

Looking at those ASUS MBs, seems many of them are within $30 of each other. Chose the ASUS P7P55D-E Pro since it's still reasonably priced at $180 and includes a $20 rebate. Got just average reviews on Newegg so that's troubling me a bit.

Trust newegg reviews with a grain of salt. Very few people who have no problems ever review. If you have a problem, pretty much every person will write a review. Look at legitimate reviews on sites.
I'd say look at the Gigabyte P55-UD4P, eVGA P55 SLI, or the Asus P5P55D EVO or -E Pro?
