Best 1000w UPS?

Need brownout, blackout and related surge protection for 1000w worth of equipment

The key is brownout... I don't think that regular 40$ UPS'es really protect your computer from that.....

Any quality brand of approx. 1500VA unit should do you. I still prefer the Best Power (now part of Powerware.com) Ferrups units, but they aren't cheap and are not easy to find either. APC and Tripplite are easy to find and decent products. Most of the so-called "line interactive" models are capable of handling down to 90v on the line before switching to battery. If you equipped your PCs with quality brand PSUs with active PFC/full-range AC compensation, your PCs could withstand that without an UPS... Then the cheap standby UPS might be able to get you by unless you are powering other equipment too.
