Surface 2 pro isn't really a tablet, it's a very expensive small touch screen laptop. Far too bulky and heavy to used as a tablet. iPad air is the best 10 inch tablet but it better be for that cost, that said I want android and I too am holding out for a new nexus 10.

I don't think there will be a new Nexus 10. I think Google is going to make a Nexus 8 and that'll be it for Nexus tablets this year.

I would avoid the iPad Air. Apple cheaped out on it by only putting 1GB RAM into it. Completely ridiculous, especially when trying to cram 64-bit OS/apps onto it. Low memory app crashes are something you may have to deal with IME.

IOS isn't Android. 1GB is lots of memory for it. I have multiple apps loaded right now and still have a few hundred MB free.

Yeah, Surface Pro 2 really is a touchscreen Windows laptop. Not really in the same class as the the iPad Air or Nexus 10. Much more expensive, and uses way more storage. Also way, way heavier.

1 GB is not "lots of memory" for it. I'd say it's adequate, but I can use up the RAM on my iPhone 5s if I leave a lot of Safari tabs in memory.

Personally I'm waiting for at least the next iPad Air iteration with 2 GB RAM. 1 GB is more than usable, but 2 GB is ideal. However, part of the reason I'm willing to wait is because we already have an iPad 2 which surprisingly still works reasonably well for basic stuff in iOS 7, even with its slow CPU and 512 MB RAM.

However, I can put this in a tablet usage model, hence why I chose it. It is good if you need all spectrum of ability of dedicated tablet to a dedicated laptop, (and I would say this again) without two separate devices or feeling the need you missed your laptop back home/work or wanting to quickly break out your computer (without the bulkiness handling of a laptop).

Also, the expenses is justified, as you mentioned, it is component wise and performance wise a laptop with combined features that most laptops do not have (namely that Cintiq like pen display).

Thats nice. Doesn't change the fact that I get LowMemory app crashes multiple times a day. Apple already replaced it once. Same problem with the new one. It is a design flaw, maybe they will fix it in 7.1 update, but I am not too hopeful.

Well, for me it's pretty much what I don't want. I much prefer a 7-10" dedicated tablet and a 12-13" laptop.

It's nice you can add a keyboard to it and have the Surface 2 Pro work as a laptop, but it's not going to be my primary laptop because it's too cramped.

Mind you my usage is perhaps somewhat different than some. For most on the road stuff I use my phone. I use my tablet on the couch (and therefore a keyboard is completely superfluous for the tablet most of the time), and for productivity work I like a more "roomy" screened laptop.

As for the weight, the Surface Pro 2 is monstrously heavy, roughly twice as heavy as what I'd prefer.

However, I could see myself liking Surface Pro 2 for stuff like vacations, or else for the occasional times I go to a conference and don't need a full fledged laptop. In this latter situation I have sometimes used an iPad with a keyboard case, but a Surface Pro 2 with keyboard would be better suited for this.

At the moment I would say Galaxy Note 10.1 or the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1.

Touchwiz on the Galaxy Note eventually lags the tablet experience after a couple of months. It'll get jittery/laggy over time. Even with its 3GB of Ram and 8 cores (4 of which are dumbed down), it still suffers. Research this aspect and you'll find numerous complaints.

Unless you're an artist or really need that pen for whatever, and that split screen, I'd shy away from this product.

The Kobo Arc 10HD could be considered due to its price. Here are my thoughts on it after using one.

Has Stock Android 4.2.2 (other than the launcher which you can change to Nova, etc)

PROS:

- 2560x1600 Screen

- 2GB Ram

- Has HDMI Port Out (Nice addition)

- Screen is very nice (better than Nexus 10 in my opinion)

- Device is actually very nice looking and built well.

- Has a Tegra 4 - Which is very fast especially with Stock Android

- Battery life is surprisingly good for the smaller battery. (Around 2000 mAh smaller than Nexus 10)

CONS:

- Limited to 16GB Storage (No MicroSD's)

- Heavy - 660g

- No back Camera

- 4.2.2 Is most likely all it will ever get.

Future Shop and Best Buy Have it for $299.99 Right now - Probably the best 10" Tablet you can buy for this Price.
