What's the best 0% transfer credit card out right now, strictly for that reason to get debt off of high interest cards to start paying them down with no interest. The more the credit limit is and longer the rate the better.

I got one from Discover recently, but they never gave me the amount I requested so I'm looking for one more.

Thanks.

Looks like a hot topic... I have another question though: I currently have a Citibank credit card with a decent amount charged to it and I just got a Citibank application in the mail for one of their other cards advertising 0% interest until 8/2008 on transfers and charges.

Can I do a transfer from a Citibank card to a Citibank card? Didn't know if that was allowed or not.

You wont be able to do a balance transfer from Citi to Citi... however you can apply for the card, do a balance transfer to your own checking account, and then pay off the 1st credit card.

I've been getting a ton of offers in my mailbox recently for 0% for 15 months from Chase. Not sure what the limit is, but it seems decent.

You can do balance transfers to checking accounts? That doesn't count as the 'cash advance' where their fees are like 30%?

I got the same mailer, But when I read the fine print, I saw something to the effect that with transfers they add 3% to the total. Is this waved with the 0% apr or is that still in effect?

No, if you use a no-fee convenience check it counts as just another "purchase" But every card is different...

I just got one that is 0% for a year and then 9.9% after. I got tired of getting cards that were 0% and then 20%+ afterwards, because they become useless after I pay off the balance xfer. I think it was through bank of america, called the world points one.

The downside is the 3% charge. But I figure I'll save way more than that in a year.

I also have an amex blue that is 5% for the life of the balance...

The 3% is in effect even for 0% transfers, but for high interest rate cards most of the time it is cheaper to pay the 3%.

I just had to tell Bank of America to fvck off after they negotiated with me a rate drop of only 1% (from 24.x% to 23.x%). I paid the tranfer fee ($40) to transfer almost all of it to my Chase card at 0% and closed the BoA account exactly like I told them I would.

This refusal to negotiate comes only two months after I paid off nearly half the balance and had only a paultry $2,000 left on it. They should have listened to me or else they wouldn't have lost a customer... I liked having the card tied to my checking account to prevent overdrafts, but not when it goes on there as a 25% cash-advance that I can't pay without paying the entire balance at 20% interest. I was paying nearly $80 a month in interest. Screw that.

Why would you want a credit card used for overdraft protection? Just seems like an easy way to overdraw on your checking account. I've never had an overdraft since I watch closely what I spend.

You can thank the current administration/congress for that one. Also, the tough bankruptcy laws too.

OPie, i get 0% offers every day. There is no best, there is just length. I go for the 18 month ones.

All states. You can thank the current administration and congress (before recent elections) for that.

Because otherwise Bank of America's overdraft policy raises the fee exponentially when it happens again. I guarantee you that I'd get a rate that's only a fraction of the ridiculous one if I just signed right back up again (still, bad for credit to cancel apply repreatedly).

Check the 2nd, 3d, and 4th credit card from the top of the list on zero-rates.com. 0% for 12 months and no BT fees for the 0% BT promotions. If you are more interested in the life-of-the-balance offers, they are mostly at the bottom of the list.

I just got an offer in the mail from washington mutual for 0% interest until April 2009, free balance transfer in the first 90 days.
