Besides New Super Mario Bros. Wiiu what are some good titles?

Have Mario and the Nintendo Land game that came with it. Of course I have already preordered Monster Hunter for the system. Is there any other titles that I should also look at? Genre doesn't really matter, even good download games from their estore would be cool.

Grabbing a Wiiu and selling my Xbox 360. Got a friend who wants a 360 to accompany his PS3 and he has offered to buy mine off of me. I don't see any games on the horizon that I really care to play. I tired of Halo 4 and Forza Horizon quickly and other titles I've been following (I am not a gears fan) can be purchased for PS3 and/or PC.

So anyway, if someone found something cool I should look at let me know.

Thanks

Forgot about pikmin as well which should be good.

Just wondering if someone found a gem that got blasted by critics because I have found that often times a game will get poor reviews if it isn't putting advertising dollars in the right hands.

How does Wii U handle Wii upscaling? I might get one just to play Xenoblade in HD.

I think the WiiU should have had the crazy tablet thing be optional, in exchange for having the price be $100-$150 cheaper. That price combined with the relatively low hardware specs is definitely hurting the WiiU (combined with the low level of games right now).

I do think it will be a system worth owning for those who like the classic Nintendo franchises, we have the following on the way :

Super Smash Bros
Mario Kart
Zelda
Pikmin
Mario 3d

Most of these should be out this year, though it wouldn't surprise me to see perhaps one of those pushed back (Zelda maybe?) to 2014.

This isn't anywhere near the flop that Virtual Boy was though. I think Nintendo had the chance to really show supreme value by releasing the WiiU at $149 or so, combined with more games to launch with (at least three flagship titles should have been ready for launch). But I think Nintendo will chug along decently well, but this could be their final hardware. Next gen may see Mario hopping around on Sony and Microsoft systems.

Hopefully not Microsoft systems because they would force you to hop around in front of a kinect sensor

Anyway I caved on this one. You may remember me somewhat bashing the wiiu but in all honesty, I think Nintendo treats their fans better than Microsoft and the more rumors I hear about the next Xbox the more I want to avoid it. So I am hopping on the wiiu and may even buy a 3dsxl later on this summer for a few choice titles that my vita doesn't get.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I hate playing the wii because it looks terrible on HD TVs.

Well, the Nintendo stuff seems the least redundant for those of us who are also PC gamers, so I'm probably going to pick one up at some point as well. I grabbed a 3DS-XL for my girl a while back, she really likes it. There are some pretty terrible games for it though, so be sure to read reviews first. I grabbed some Tom Clancy game and a Resident Evil game, and they were both absolutely horrible.

I quit playing my Wii on TV and just started using the emulator. The games I'm interested in work fine.

So I have some questions about the Wii U gamepad. Does the screen always have to be on or can you set it to turn off? Like in super mario Bros U, it mirrors what's happening on screen. I guess that's ok, but it probably eats away the battery more than if it was off but I don't see a way to turn it off. Also I find it a bit distracting from the main screen at times. Like I tend to want to look down like I'm playing a Vita or something which is something I'll have to train myself not to do.

Also is there a better battery I can get for it? The one that comes with it drains quickly.

Screen is always on. Some games mirror the tv to the gamepad, some have different stuff on the gamepad.

Nyko has a battery thats supposed to be something like 3x capacity. Nintendo made the battery completely user replaceable.

I ended up getting the zombie u bundle that comes with the black 32GB console, a copy of zombie u, a free download code for Nintendo land, a wiiu pro controller (the controller that has no screen) as well as a charging cradle for the gamepad. The basic set is $299 and this one was $389 so for $90 you get two games, 32GB vs 8GB, and the pro controller. It is a good deal IMO and later they might not even bundle any games who knows.

The Wii U doesn't have many games yet.

Nintendoland is fun for casual multiplayer, but the singleplayer games aren't great.
Zombi U is interesting but short and lacks any real challenge.
Scribblenaughts is fun but not for $60.

I did get Trine 2 on the Wii U for local co-op, but that game was already out on every platform already, including your toaster.

Let's get real..

"Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, a new 3D Mario game, Monster Hunter, the aforementioned Zelda titles and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem game, a new Mario Kart, and a new Xenoblade—and that’s only a portion of the Wii U exclusives coming."

http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkai...de-creator-monolith-soft-announced-for-wii-u/

The Wii U will demolish sales of the current gen consoles this summer..and when the new Sony and xbox consoles come out, with very few games as all new systems do, the Wii U will have a very solid library.

So Nintendo will be fine.

I was curious about this as well, and from what I've read, it simply upscales the frame. Be aware that this is not rendering it at a higher resolution like Dolphin does, but rather it performs the same action that your TV does when receiving a lower resolution signal (upscales it to native resolution).

I think the WiiU should have had the crazy tablet thing be optional, in exchange for having the price be $100-$150 cheaper. That price combined with the relatively low hardware specs is definitely hurting the WiiU (combined with the low level of games right now).

I definitely agree that cheaper would have been better, but I think that releasing it without the screen by default would have been a bad maneuver. I'm certainly not abreast of any insider information, but normally when there's an optional accessory, it tends to only get used in very specialized games, and most other developers will ignore it. In other words, without the tablet, the Wii-U would really just be a Wii++.

Anyway I caved on this one. You may remember me somewhat bashing the wiiu but in all honesty, I think Nintendo treats their fans better than Microsoft

Oh really? :p While this isn't Nintendo purposefully treating their customers terribly, their awful online setup isn't helping at all.

Why will it magically demolish anything in the summer? If I remember correctly, most of the games are supposed to be shown off during E3 in some capacity (i.e. some much further along than others). E3 takes place during the middle of June. That means Nintendo has two months from then to release all those games you listed and attempt to smoosh the competition.

Honestly, without these games, I don't see why you think it has much hope. Even with the rumors of the upcoming next release of the XBOX and PlayStation, both the 360 and PS3 outsold the Wii-U in January.

Because every major release on the Wii U will sell more consoles.

And the upcoming new consoles from MS and Sony will hurt sales of their existing consoles.

And with an improving economy I expect this summer people will be ready to shop, and the Wii U and its new releases will be the latest new thing for gamers to spend money on.

Sure, but my point is that when do we expect these to actually come out? Nintendo is supposed to be showing off some games at E3, but some of them may just be videos. I believe Zelda will just be unveiled, but I think Mario Kart will be playable.

And the upcoming new consoles from MS and Sony will hurt sales of their existing consoles.

Normally, I would agree with you on this, but I'm not 100% sure if that's the case. The new consoles have been rumored for a bit, but the older consoles are still seeing decent sales. Also, there's been quite a few mentions from game publishers that games will still be published on the older consoles even though the newer ones may be out. For example, Bungie's Destiny, which is due in 2014, will be on both old and new. I think it just comes down to market penetration.

Now, let's combine that with possible heavy discounts on the 360 and PS3 as they're now older hardware. Someone like myself (a person with a modest amount of disposable income) may opt for a "720" or a PS4, but a family without a lot of money may go for the far cheaper older consoles that still get the same games.

nintendo has like a 20 year track record for not delivering games on time. absolutely no reason to think that is magically going to change now.

Every console launch is this way. The launch 360 games were HORRIBLE and in some cases worse than the PS2 version. Same for PS3, will be the same for the next systems.

At least with Nintendo you have a variety of titles that aren't on every system known. Obviously they will have the multi-platform titles but that is expected.

As has been said the new systems won't necessarily hurt Nintendo directly since they will have to get titles out and we know from experience that it isn't an overnight process. The Wii U will have a pretty good library by the time the new systems finally arrive from MS and Sony. The capabilities won't be as high but the quality might be tons higher.

Watch Dogs, Destiny and others are going to be on 360 and PS3 with very little mentioned about the next systems. We have no idea what the launch lineup will look like for the PS4 or whatever. Maybe tomorrow we will have an idea.

Every launch has trouble, and every system is called a failure initially. Remember the PS3 sales and people saying "no games!"? I sure do and now look at it. Way more exclusives than anything else.

not sure why you are talking about launches, because i wasn't.

they are notorious for giving launch dates and not meeting them. has been happening as far back as i can really remember when i started paying attention to launches (N64). the worst culprit is the zelda they showed for gamecube being all dark and "realistic" and then like 2 years later they showed us how it transformed into windwaker, which was also released at least a year after the zelda for gamecube was supposed to be released.

Zelda was never given a release date. The dates were all made up by retail.

well showing a zelda game, regardless of it being a tech demo or not, in 2000 before the console was released, then putting out a game that looks nothing like it 3 years later is a crappy thing to do.

they have a track record for doing shit like that or mentioning "coming soon" then it doesn't come out for years.

that is all i'm talking about here. who knows when the "next gen" mario/zelda/metroid are going to come out. and it is pointless to speculate based on their track record.

it was just as equally shitty as them showing us a mario tech demo that resembled mario 64, and giving us a piece of shit luigi's mansion at launch, and then another piece of shit mario sunshine years down the road.
