Bes Monitor

Hello, I have a 8800 gtx vid card and i'm looking for a monitor that will give me the best picture possibly. i heard somethign about hd monitors? i don't know much. also there is limited space for the monitor, i thinke a 24 inch monitor is a tad bit too big for the space on the desk.

Based on our post - it seems you are talking about games - for games you dont need that big rear end display ... 19 or 21 is big enough...

again for games HD wouldnt matter... If you slap in a TV tuner then its might be a good idea...

Get a LCD with less than 8ms response time 6 or 4 are the best...
look for one with smaller pixel pitch which can give you high resolution (higher than 1280x1024)- i am not sure if they exist...

Even today a 300 $ Flat screen CRT will smoke any LCD of that price on any given day of the week

oh well i left a few details out. this computer is for my dad, he plans to do a lot of video editing and viewing videos on the comp, idk if that changes what you said before

Well... What I said earlier still pretty much holds. For watching video you still need lower response time... max 8.

If the video editing tool has lots of tool bars and stuff then he might need a bigger screen, still you would need a higher resolution to view more stuff on the screen, just size wont do the trick

There is gaming involved too though right? A 8800 gtx will not help with video editing unless you're going 3d rendering for the videos.

But at any rate you're asking about the monitor. "HD" is basically just a set of resolutions (and frame rates, but whatever) that includes 1280x720 (720p), 1920x1080 (1080p) and such.

Traditionally monitors have been way ahead of TVs in resolution so it's not really a big deal to look for an "HD" monitor. HD resolutions are widescreen, do you know if you dad wants to have a widescreen (16:9 / 16:10) monitor or a 4:3 one or a 5:4 one?

Is this professional video editing and viewing or just casual stuff?

Yes, I'll be gaming here and there when i come home. Ya, i think i heard my friend saying that monitors are better than tv's for resolution. Ya Widescreen would be nice. Well it's not hardcore pro video editing, but my dad plans to make dvd's for presentational movies for conferences. and home videos.

Heh, I thought "Bes" was a new type of monitor, kind of disappointing 🙁

I think the LG looks good OP, it should do everything you need it to and do it very well.
