The very fact that we are even discussing the prospect of America becoming a socialist country speaks volumes to me about the will of the people. The very fact that there is a huge populous who would support those ideals, again speaks volumes to me. Our society have become a very lazy people, who want to rally for equal misery, rather than get off our collective butts and do something to change our lives. Government does not create wealth. Beyond government jobs, there is nothing holding the government up, except for those who work and pay taxes. Without the makers, we are destined to only have takers. How long is that shit gonna last?

Yea, those nordic countries sure are massive hellscapes.

One of these days that people who scream and yell about how bad socialism is are going to take a few minutes out of their day and look up how it works in the real world.

So what's your attraction to them, the mind numbing conformity that rivals if not exceeds a suburban neighborhood with homeowners association blandness, or the idea that you have the option to be a completely worthless slacker and still have someone better and more motivated than you to pay your bills? Or is it the appeal of very few scary black people who might shoot you?

I think its more the widespread safety net that allows people to live their lives better is quite a draw. The ability to take risks in your life and know that if things go bad, you can still get healthcare, can still get an education and can still have a life.

By a lot of measures we are already a socialist nation. Obama wants more socialism. Hillary wants more socialism. Sanders wants a LOT more socialism. Whether or not we like the results, morally a populace has the right to order itself as it desires, as long as minority rights aren't infringed.

According to OECD the middle class constitutes 18% of the north american population, but 36% of Europe.
The middle class are those that make a first world country what it is and make it more equal and safer.
The extreme opposite is africa, with the rich and the super poor and few people in the middle, and thus lots of criminality and the rich living in protected compounds, the median person being the poor guy, despite the average wealth not being so bad.

The US is in the middle between Europe and Latin America.
The time data shows that it's going towards the direction of Latin America, and this increased during the crisis. Sanders appears to want to go in the other direction.

I think saying that those who agree with him are lazy and want to live on the dole is just an ad personam attack not based on data.

The state has to manage the system to improve the median well-being of the citizens.
Creating wealth by e.g. attracting foreign enterprises or promoting the creation of new high value added businesses is often part of it but it's just a consequence of the objective.

The Nazi's were not about giving to the people, they were demanding of the people

I have to agree with this premise, it made me recall a documentary I watched awhile ago about Hitler's early days in power.

I consider myself pretty well informed about WWII and those that partook in it, but the news of Hitler and his goons enacting essentially slave labor for portions of the Autobahn construction was news to me. IIRC they mentioned a day when Hitler and his entourage were surveying the progress somewhere along the Autobahn and came upon a group of people protesting working conditions, politics, etc with signs. Hitler personally joined his security retinue in jumping out of the car and help beat the protesters into submission, using some kind of African riding baton or whip to great effect supposedly.

Quite the friend of the working man, clearly.

One of the problems for people who don't know shit about politics except for what terrible fiction/philosophers wrote, is that they get all sorts of terms mixed up, and then go out in public making fools of themselves.

The Nazis came in, outlawed labor unions, and put socialists and communists into concentration camps along with jews, gypsies, and homosexuals.

But hey, the word "socialist" is in the NAZI acronym, so like, Bernie Sanders is a card-carrying Nazi and stuff, y'all!

Ayn Rand said so, in her shitty fiction/philosophy books, so it must be true. OP says!

Galt's Gulch and Anacapistan forever!
Observable reality, never!

You are dumb. Socialist leaning countries with enforced markets are some of the most successful countries in the world. I'm sure you are old and your brain has been steeped in 70 years of propaganda but soon you will be dead and the young people who havent had your "education" will look at the numbers and realize whats the right way. It has nothing to do with being lazy you ingrate.
