Bernie Sanders delegates stage walkout of convention

Shortly after Clinton officially won the nomination, supporters of Sanders, her primary rival, clogged the hallways while chanting “this is what democracy looks like” and "this is our country." From another side of the arena, several people wearing Black Lives Matter shirts also joined in as the group headed outside to the media tent.
...
Several people decked out in Sanders attire were also escorted out of the arena by convention staff. One woman screamed that she would not vote for Clinton and said she planned to “leave the Democratic Party.”
...
"Because we did ... what our delegations sent us here to do. We cast our votes for Sen. Sanders," Michael Lopez, a North Dakota delegate, told The Hill, when asked why they waited until after Clinton was formally the nominee to walk out.

Delegates indicated that discussions about a walkout had been in the works for days and were part of a deal reached between multiple state groups.

A wall of about a dozen police officers swiftly formed around the path to the arena's exit, with dozens more officers and a handful of Secret Service staffers standing near the rally outside. Additional police officers were called in to prevent more Sanders supporters from accessing the media area.

Asked why they marched into the media tent, Lopez said, "The media is our last hope."

Walking onto the arena’s main concourse Tuesday night following Clinton’s nomination, all you had to do was follow the chant. It wasn’t hard to figure out what this growing mass of bodies was doing. “WALK OUT, WALK OUT,” they chanted. What may have started with a few states wound up drawing from dozens—at least 30 in all, according to a Sanders delegate from Vermont named Shyla Nelson. They had turned their DNC-issued Hillary posters into protest signs; one scratched out the arrowed Clinton logo and wrote “Go To Hell” over it, while another changed “Do the most good” to “Bernie does the most good.”

Interesting that the majority of MSM tried to ignore this.

The media is their "last hope"? The media was in bed with the DNC, maybe they didn't read the wikileaks from CNN/Politico/Reuters all being in bed with them.

All in all, a sad end to the #FeeltheBern movement. Hopefully they will vote Trump to show their displeasure of impartiality and unfairness to Bernie.

I applaud these people for standing up for what they believe in.

I think we are asleep and lack the knowledge of how to awaken. Perhaps somebody somewhere knows. What if to awaken you had to let go of everything you feel is right? That would be one hell of a mess to be in. We would have to silence what we see as the self. Who would want to be the victim of his or her own hand, or better yet, who isn't?

Those f*cking racist misogynist xenophobes!!!...wha wha wait, this was at Dem convention?! Oh, um, ah, well, we have nominated Her, these silly people need to fall in line! Lulz looney Libs...

MSM ignored it?? BS-the media has been hyping the hell out of this and any other potential controversy this entire cycle in both parties since the beginning. And when you watch Faux News they inevitably have the Bernie chants cranked up in volume (for proof, A-B switch between Faux and CSPAN).

Fact of the matter is Sanders came in second by a clear margin. Hillary's supporters didn't pull this sort of spoiled child tantrum in 2008 and she came a whole lot closer.

If these people want to turn this election into a repeat of 2000-when the Nader voters insured GWB would be elected President, thus triggering off the whole Iraq invasion, Arab Spring and growth of ISIS, well then the blame is on their hands. For I'm sure if Trump gets elected he's going to make GWB look like a brilliant President in comparison.

If someone ever offered me a drug called "Moonbeam" I would take it in a heartbeat.

So the green party is going to win...

they're not even on the ballot in all 50 states, and there's no way some of Jill Stein's more batshit crazy ideas would actually stand up to scrutiny if anyone was actually taking her seriously (unilateral nuclear disarmament, enforcing a maximum hour work-week, disbanding NATO, etc)

What a lovely concern troll.

According to this, "More than 100" of Bernie's delegates walked out, although the headline says "hundreds"-

This says dozens-

He had at least 1846 delegates present. It's OK for those who feel compelled to walk out. I figure most will do the right thing in November.

The handful of delegates walking out is basically like people going to take a piss at a concert when the band play the crappy 3rd single from their second album. No one would even notice if it weren't pointed out.

It would help if you told us whether the "crappy 3rd single from their second album" is Bill, Obama or Hillary.
