La Voce di Rimini published the statements, which reportedly came during an interview in which an Italian and a British journalist asked the prime minister if Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein could be compared to Mussolini.

"Mussolini never killed anyone. Mussolini used to send people on vacation in internal exile," The Associated Press reported Berlusconi as saying in the newspaper.

The PM clarified his remark to reporters later Thursday. "I didn't accept his comparison, or the comparison of my country to another dictator or another dictatorship, that of Saddam Hussein, which provoked millions of deaths," Berlusconi said at a news conference.

Thank you for that remark, DonaldRumsfeld. Are you working on becoming a member of the Bush Administration?

Apprently, it is also an Italian way. IIRC, he is a media mogul, like Turner or Murdoc, and he is the most well-connected politician in that country. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yip, that's the "new europe" that Rummy and Bush embrace

BERLUSCONI AND HIS FASCIST COALITION PARTNER ARE A F*CKING DISGRACE FOR EUROPE

Berlusconi is a media mogul and owns most of the commerical tv stations in Italy. he also owns the soccer club AC-Milan
he recently passed a law so that the Italian justice dept. can not prosecute him anymore for corruption and fraude
his extreme-right fascist coalition partner proposed a law to give the Italian navy permission to shoot at illigal immigrants coming form Albania and Nothern Africa

i'm ashamed for being an European every time that assh*t opens his mouth

Berlusconi is a jackass and most Italians cannot stand him. The majority of the country was adamently against the war in Iraq yet in his attempt to kiss ass and get an invitation to DC he, well, kissed a lot of Bush ass.

"Berlusconi . . . Bush's Italian blood brother sticks his foot in it . . . again"

berlusconi has no common sense, what's new? i dont see how bush has anything to do with this.

everyone is italy is either a socialist or a fascist (please read before you flame). i am not making a steriotype or critizing them, its just the way their politics are divided in italy. ask people who have lived there(italians). if you dont like fascism, you are pretty much stuck being a socialist and if you dont like socialism you are stuck being a fascist. berlusconi, clearly, doesnt like socialism.

[puts on fireproof suit] flame away.

Lack of common sense . . . Bush . . . what don't you understand?

How many Heads of State have visited Crawford this year?
National Review Online
Along with Spanish President Aznar, Berlusconi has led the "Coalition of the willing," broken with the anti-American Franco-German axis, and established a special relationship with George W. Bush (and Tony Blair) that leaves other European leaders surprised and envious. Later this month, he will fly to Crawford, Texas, to deepen his already strong personal friendship with the Bushes, and further annoy those who consider themselves the only legitimate European factotums.

To be sure, Berlusconi has been officially charged with corruption ? in connection with events that allegedly took place 20 years ago.

Thankfully, George W. Bush remembers his friends, especially those who share his values, as Berlusconi does. Both are passionate and outspoken freedom fighters. Both are deeply religious. Both have come to appreciate the importance of family values, and both are remarkably independent of the dominant culture that preaches appeasement of evil.
