Yeah they're back but I doubt if any uploads/downloads will get through...

There are now a good number of public queues out there that are either dry or near dry, and those are going to be retrying, ad nauseum, to get filled again.

I think this last one will be the end of Seti for me tho.
My primary is unable to connect either thru a pubil que or thru Berkley.
It failed this weekend & when I tried to get it going again it downloaded a new client & keeps asking for my email(user name).
It apparently can't connect to verify it.

Ah well. The second PC is still running at 4-5 WU's/day. I'll keep that up until I hit 500.

Any good projects that have an intrest in keeping the Linux community involved?

Alric,

Too bad about the problems with Seti for you. You could always copy the user_info.sah file from the second computer to the new one and that would take care of the identification problem. If you have still decided you would like to look at another project, I would suggest ECCp=109. We are trying to hold the TeAm's position in the top 5 and it is a difficult battle. We have made headway recently (I and some others have joined the battle), but we still need all the help we can get.

If you decide to try the file copy, let me know if you have questions, otherwise, hope to see you in ECCp :)

If you truly are looking for another project, ECCp-109 works great in linux (x86 platform) and it is an open-source project.

Edit: slow be me!

I had already planned on putting my cruchers to the ECCp project, at least until it ends.

I'll be checking out the Linux help page.

I hope another Athlon 1600XP will help

WoW...I've actually been able to get 3 WUs submitted in the past few hours! In a week we might be able to flush the backlog!

I'm going to hold off my Q for a while. I have enough for another 4 or 5 days. That'll give the rest of you a better chance to get in. ;)

HeHE,
I hold of on my lil 50 unit queue as a nice gesture, Smokeball holds off on his gargantuan queue as a means of having a noticeable impact on Berkeley's bandwith. :)

Kinda like the difference between a matchbox car and a Lotus.

Once this outage is over & everyone can connect OK you should be able to flush through a Q without any problems ,after that any future outages you won't notice because yout setup with a Q:) ,alternatley you could install your own Q & ride out the outages that way (doh!you can't install SETIQ if you're on Linux:(),that's what I've done for the past 2yrs.
The only time I nearly got caught was 1 yr ago ,I had a Q depth of about 4 days ,the Berkley site had its fibre optic cable cut by a digger!

,it was 1 week before they were connected again!.(I kept going by taking WU's from a much less used Q of my bros).I now keep a Q depth of 1 week & haven't run out since:).
I hope you stay with us:)

Things will have to improve from their current situation for the numbers to be "good" tomorrow. Take a look at the CRICKET chart and you will notice that the bandwidth is all outgoing. So we can get WUs but turning in completed ones looks to be a problem if I am understanding this chart correctly. :Q

That sucks...maybe they're letting people get work and then take what's pending later?

The outgoings look about normal ,if you click on daily in the chart you'll see the outgoings look about the same as prior to the outage.Remember the results are much smaller than the WU's:).But you're probably right in tommorows stats ,it'll take a while to clear the backlog before output returns to normal

I looked at the longer history and you are right Assimilator1, the incoming is about its normal level. So things will probably get back to normal more quickly than I thought.

My queue still has about half the results left to flush, but it is making headway now :) Should be completely flushed tonight. I do have a decent stockpile of WUs still :)
