Just saw the last 10 min. or so of this. Pretty wild concept and that would be one hellacious engineering feat!

Lots and lots of trucks. It would probably be substantially cheaper to truck cargo than to fly or ship it.

there would be a road on top which would be useless other than a driving trip across a massive structure. the train inside the bridge would be useless because i dont see many commutters between the two continents anyways. however the oil pipeline within the bridge i do see as helpful in economic ways.

I can't believe that it would be cheaper to truck something over that long distance. It would probably be like a 8000 mile trip to get from anywhere useful in russia to anywhere useful in the US.

maybe the airline industry is a foreign concept to you, but just FYI, they do millions in business every day flying people between north american and asia.

Truck < Plane. Ship < Truck. Train < Truck. Not sure which is cheaper, ship or train, but I'd bet ship is.

yes i do know they do airline business trips between n.america and asia. but the 55 mile bridge connecting two places 55 miles apart is no where going to help local commuters in the two areas of connection. i doubt where they connect this bridge is like connecting LA to new york. they are connecting two places that arent even part of a econimic global network. anything more than 100 miles commute one way, im sure ppl would rather relocate than do 200 miles in a day. 110 miles for a round trip is maybe the limit for most commuters.

Trust me, cargo ship will be a lot cheaper. My father owns a trucking and rigging business, and a job like that would require oodles and oodles of money. Remember truckers can only go (I think) 6 hours legally without stopping; a ship can go nonstop.
