I rented Beowulf (free rental from those Redbox things) but I know it has nudity in it and I don't think that's 'good' for my 12 year old brother, so I told him he can't watch it.

Now, is it scattered throughout or only in one scene? I am pretty sure it's scattered but just checking.

I think that almost all of it is Beowulf himself fighting the bad guy naked. Fortunately, they did a clever job of hiding the dude's wanker throughout the whole fight scene, but there are a lot of ass shots. I wouldn't worry about letting your little brother watch it unless he's been showing some gay tendencies... like watching Will and Grace and Queer Eye reruns on TV.

Honestly....other than the scene mentioned by ultimatebob, i don't remember nudity. i think there was close to it at one point when Beowulf arrives the village and they party...or one of the party scenes...but can't say for certain. in any case...it's CGI. and he's 12. big deal.

You could say Angelina Jolie's character is naked, but for the most part mud is covering her nipples.

I say just let her watch it even though it gets dicey in some parts, I myself loved the movie as explained in my long-ass praise-piece on it HERE

If you feel the urge to be concerned about Beowulf, shouldn't you be more concerned about the violence in that movie than the little nudity that's there?

animation of the background characters was painful to see, the arms just up in the air, as if they didnt care

nope. this is America. you can decapitate someone on TV but God forbid you flash a breast.

Edit: i saw this in theaters over thanksgiving last year... i really enjoyed it after i digested that the whole movie was CGI.

i thought the CGI was mostly very well done - there were a couple of scenes that i almost couldn't tell it was CGI.

OP: No private parts are ever shown. Just a few "suggestions." ;)

Like Final Fantasy, this movie was a great tech demo with too little substance. Surely the old myth this is based upon had to have been more interesting to have survived a thousand years.

Final Fantasy is off the hook for not being that great because at the time the technology was still new.

Beowulf had an extra 6 years.

Just do a google picture search for Angelina Jolie Beowulf and see. She is animated and covered in golden liquid.

And when Beowulf is fighting Grendel, something is always conveniently placed. It's so blatantly artificial it reminded me of Austin Powers.

QFMFT. The violence is pretty disturbing - who cares about some T&A?

All of the movies for Beowulf have disappointed me. I didn't even see the latest one.

Something I learned recently:

Beo = bee
wulf = wolf
Beowulf = bee wolf = bear

there are two trains of thought usually by those without kids:

1) that there was no nudity since it was all CGI

2) that there was not nudity because nothing was fully rendered.

Angelina Jolie was shown fully naked as if covered in a perfectly skin tight catsuit. Her nipples were fully drawn, but her labia were not shown...just smooth.

Beowulf's rear end was shown and his penis hidden much like on austin powers with other characters and props blocking the view.

For adults it shouldn't be a big deal as it wasn't just gratuitous nudity. For the one scene it showed how the mother would have been irresistable and for the fight scene how Beowulf's ego and prowness were.
