Beos 5 Whats it good for?

I just installed Beos 5 Personal Edition. Its pretty cool but what exactly can you do with it? I can't get my modem to init.(would use it as internet browser) and there really aren't any programs for it is there? I would like to get away from MS. Would Linnux be better?
 
Well there are tons of multimedia apps for it. Tons of video and sounds stuff, and some 3D stuff.

Without internet though ANY OS is worthless really if its going to be used as a main one. I mean you couldn't even efficiently crack! 😛
 
Linux would definately be better because there are more programs for it and more hardware is supported. However, BeOS is really nice and is easier to learn/use...

I too tried BeOS and thought it was cool, but my network card didn't work, so I promptly deleted it 🙁
 
BeOS...the media OS that doesn't support most major media types...[/l]

Say what? BeOS supports a lot of media types. In fact I cant really think of any it doesnt offhand...
