Its definately not durability, since most European car makers have terrible reliability. Now, features-wise, they may have a slight edge over Japanese cars, but the upscale Japanese cars are catching up. Its basically to show off.

How is a BMW safer than a Toyota?

well, matters on which one you get

theres a lot of tech thats in a BMW vs a Toyota

like, i'd rather be in a 3-series rather than a corolla

but for a 3-series price (~$30k) you have bunch of otehr options such has Infiniti G35 with AWD.... Mitsu Lan Evo, Subaru...etc. which equip with similar safet features and AWD

I think I understand your english.

That technology does nothing when you're broadsided by a truck.

why did bmw, benz, audi include side curtain airbags and companies like toyota and honda made you pay extra for them when they first came out?

BTW, our family owns a 1998.5 Audi A6 2.8 fwd, its a great car. bought it used. it has its share of maintenece and such...

European cars are more flashy, sexy than Japanese cars, and definately more so than American cars. Other than that, there is nothing special about them, except for the insane price tag.

But if you have the money to afford them, then do it. Personally I'd rather get a 70K loaded Hummer:D

There is no doubt in my mind what-so-ever that they bought these vehicles to boost their own ego, as a status symbol and to make up for their minuscule penis's.

becasue toyota market target is the middle class. if toyota were to install airbag as standard. the price of their vechicle will certainly go up by $1000/2000. and to middle class family, thats alot to pay. they might risk their chance not getting into accident for it.<~~thats jus my guess

but let jus say its $1000-2000 for airbags. this would still make a $10-20k different b/w a japanese car and european car

when you go to a good college and work your butt off to make good money, why not spend it on things you want?

I got the Audi A4 because it had AWD, and more features for the money than any other car at the time.

Seriously, I'm not kidding! The closest competitors to the 2003 A4 3.0 Quattro at the time was the either the BMW 330xi or the Jaguar 3.0 X-Type sport. Fully loaded, the Audi was 5 grand cheaper than both of them.
