Waiting on my new Tbird 1 GHz and KT7A RAID all week and it comes in Friday with bent pins! I got it OEM from Icompz. It was shipped inside the KT7A RAID box, encased in a clear molded plastic container. I didn't discover the bent pins until I went to place it in the ZIF socket. Sure as hell three pins were bent halfway over towards the center right at the spot that the plastic container it shipped in made contact. Then I discovered two more slightly bent pins on the other side where it met the plastic.

Has anyone ever bent these pins back? I'm sure I should just send it back, but I'd just like to know.

I'm bummed!

Just send it back, you might Snap the pins off and then when you send it back, they'll be wondering how it happened, etc. etc.

I have had bent pins before. I took a plastic card, and inserted it between the rows of pins. You will only see a row at a time on the plastic card. Then I used a small screwdriver and tweezers when I saw a bent pin in the row to straighten it. I had many bent pins on a T-Bird that I dropped (it happens :) ) And by doing the above, I managed to get them all straight again.

icompz has awesome support, i don't think you'd have a problem explaining to them to get a replacement chip

I agree with sending it back if it came new that way, but I have bent pins on a socket 7 cpu before and got them straight with some light nudging from a screwdriver.
