replacing my stock cooler last night with a A64 (BTW: WOW amazing cooler)
regardless, when taking off the stock HS/Fan and being as careful as possible, sure as sh!t the CPU ripped out of the socket and bent a bunch of pins. My heart sank (this CPU is a OCing monster http://dufa.kicks-ass.net/stuff/OC.JPG)

regardless I was determined to save the old girl... I looked at the pins are realized that a credit card edge would work perfectly and it sure did. I heard of using razors before but those are narrower that the pin seperation. The CC edge was EXACTLY right. slide it in there tweaked here and there and snapped her back in.

whoee! don't scare us like that! the worst way for a cpu to die is by a bent pin. atleast they didn't break off. i heard that sometimes happens if you aren't careful with it.

4 pins were SEVERLY bent and 2 whole rows were wiggly.

.05 mechanical pencil, Lots of patience made it possible for me to fix this CPU.....
Now, i run 2900Mhz at 1.42v Dual Prime stable :)

yeap that was as bad as mine was... I just slid that CC card in there and it straightened the bulk of them out quickly
I still had to tweak but it was a life saver.

I hate bent pins :(
