Hi all,

I posted a week or two back looking for advice on a 120Hz monitor. Thanks for anyone who replied.

I have narrowed my choice to either the Benq XL2420T or the Asus VG236HE.

I am not too interested in 3D and just want the 120Hz for gaming smoothness.

I am trying to source the XL2420T as cheap as possible and have seen it for as little as 313Euro on dabs.ie but it won't be in stock for more than 4 weeks.

The few places it is in stock have the price at 369+ Euros and this is outside my budget. My budget can stretch to 320 Euro.

I can get the VG236HE for 265 which comes in nicely under budget but I am not sure how the two compare as the XL2420T is brand new and there are no reviews.

Can anyone give me any feedback on either monitor? Is it worth paying the extra for the Xl2420T? Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

It is very hard to find respectable reviews that accurately test the performance of these monitors. Most often reviewers don't test things correctly or don't have equipment to test properly. I find it embarrassing when user reviews are able to put a monitor through its paces better than Anandtech, Cnet, Bit-tech, ect.

Ultimately we will have to wait for those few golden reviews to leak out. However, I would not be surprised if the XL2420T takes the crown from its older brother of having the least input delay of any production LCD to date. Image/panel quality is entirely up in the air at this point however.

Will the BenQ be worth it over the Asus? For some yes, for some no. If you are really on the fence, I would definitely wait for official reviews and decide for yourself. The BenQ could either blow us away or just blow. Personally I cannot wait for it to come out since my 2233RZ is getting a little long in the tooth.
