BenQ W1070 bulb blew

slag

Lifer
Purchased my W1070 two years ago on August 14th, 2015 from Amazon. On August 14th, 2017, the bulb blew. I bought another from Amazon, just the bare bulb, for $53.99 and opened up the lamp housing and replaced it. Watched a couple movies last night and all is good. My projector hangs upside down on the ceiling, so it was super easy to remove the door, pull the housing out, and fish out all the broken glass.

Lets see if this new bulb lasts another 2 years. It has a 120 day warranty, so if it blows, I think it will be sooner rather than later.

yeah, they suck, but it has a 120 day warranty against breakage. There was no liquid mercury anywhere in the housing or anywhere I could see so it went somewhere if there was any.

No it's vapourised trace amount. Not sure if you can see it even cold.

After reading about horror stories of 3rd party bulbs and housings ruining projectors, it wasn't worth the risk to me to go the cheap route so I got the actual Panasonic part for mine.

My original was an osram. The link I used on Amazon.com had reviewers who said their bulb came and was branded osram also. Mine didn't have that branding or name on it.
