I have a benq projector that is about 2 years old; the W100. The lamp has about 2200 hours on it, less than the rated 3000. The projector turns on with a green LED, then turns orange and blinks. Sometimes the bulb light will be red.

I tried following the instructions in the manual to reset the hour timer on the lamp to figure out if the lap was just past it's life and I missed all the warnings, but no love. The screen will not turn on no matter what I do.

So I either need ideas on how to resurrect the projector, or thoughts on which new projector I should get. Thoughts?

most likely you need a new lamp. You turn it on and off a lot don't you? Lamps don't like that, I think it's been said each power cycle takes like an hour away from the life of the lamp.

Maybe you should just upgrade to a 1080p pj :)

Yeah, sounds like a dead lamp. My Infocus 4805 started doing something similar a couple of months ago and after some googling, it is indeed the lamp. A new lamp is like $300 and it's not worth it to me right now to replace it. I'll wait until I can find a 720p for under $500.

$300 for a lamp does not sound like a good deal to me. What is a good 720p or 1080p projector? and why would I want to purchase whatever projector you recommend?

Price point?

I 100% love my Mits HC6500...but most people dont want to shell out that kinda money.

Alot of the 1080p projectors can be had for decent nowadays.
