I didnt really say I was going to buy the monitor. Although I did just realize that it doesnt have DVI. Maybe I should just pick something else up that is worth ~$400, ebay it, then pick up a viewsonic or samsung?

i know someone with a 15 inch Benq, in all honesty it isnt that bad at all, but if I were buying for myself..i'd drop the extra few dollars to get a Samsung/etc.

I have the benq FP767 and love it. Its not dvi but DVDs still look perfect on this in max screen size. I love it and would buy it again. But thats just my opinion why dont you read the other peoples responses; they like me gave it a 5/5 stars. (i know mine is a different model)

Want a good recommendation? Stay away from Korean-made and Taiwanese-made (Benq, in particular). They may look the same, but they aren't. I got experience with many monitors from different makers, and all I can say 2 brands suck completely: Samsung and Viewsonic. Samsung is horrible. LG is a little better, it's acceptable, but later models have craptastic and rediculous design. Pretty much the only companies I trust as far as monitors go are Sony and NEC/Mitsubishi (Sony is better, but more expesnive). They both should be good. Would I buy an Acer monitor? I wouldn't, but if someone gave me one for free I wouldn't refuse either.

Acer sucks.
their mice.
their optical drives
garbage.
what difference does IBM using them make?

Because IBM is renowned for having high quality products, especially their laptops.

if not their hard drives.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see what makes it such a good deal. I'm not particularly fond of Benq/Acer but I have nothing major against them.

If you want a pretty good and very cheap LCD I recommend this. It looks quite good though the speakers are horrible (big surprise).

If you want a great LCD for a reasonable price I recommend the Samsung 710N. It only costs a little more than the Benq and I personally trust Samsung a LOT more.

well the deal is that I can get the benq for free. After reading the responses to this thread I have decided to just order a digicam that I can Egay for around $400 and pick up a better LCD.

PWNED.

Anyway, I have a friend who has that exact monitor. It's very nice, but I would splurge for the dvi output.
