I'm in the market to purchase 2x 18-19" LCDs. I dont game much. I mostly watch movies/DVD, program, web browsing, pic editing, word docs, etc.

I want to purchase both for under $1100. The BenQ FP951 19" has AMAZING reviews on newegg and also fits my price range well. I'm wondering, CAN it be beat for the price?

Also - should I buy somewhere else considering newegg's crappy dead pixel policy? What is Benq's policy on dead pixels? other vendors i should look at?

THANKS

I wouldn't go by the newegg reviews because its kind of general knowledge that they only post the positive reviews so almost all the products look good. Saying that the specs on the benQ look pretty impressive for that price another one i like is the Samsung 191T but that may a little out of your price range. The NEC 1860NX might work if you are willing to go with 18 inchers, also you can go here for a few reviews http://www6.tomshardware.com/display/index.html

I am also looking to buy a 19" LCD w/ DVI.

Here is a review.

It actually looks like a very nice screen. I'm pretty sure you could get a Samsung for a similar price w/ similar features though. You'll really need to do your homework if you want to find the *best* 19" LCD out there for your budget.

<EDIT: Sorry that was a really crappy review!!! :(>

well unless I go used (prefer to buy new though), it looks like the FP951 is the best choice. Also forgot to mention that since i'm going to be using the 2 LCDs side by side, a thin bezel is a big requirement and the benq has this also. I'll also need DVI....

mstegall - although your newegg theory does make sense, i've read hundreds of reviews for various products that complained about shortcomings of the product, etc, so i dont agree that all the reviews are positive. I still think the benqFP951 will be amazing. This will be my first set of LCDs besides a 15" I had for a week a few years ago so I'm sure anything I get will be fine :)

thanks

get the Sceptre Komodo IV 19" with dvi... best picture in the world. I used to be a CRT freak but this LCD changed my mind with its crisp picture with a perfect viewing angle. 180 degrees, no joke

yeah i am not doubting that the benQ looks like an excellent monitor, but it is accepted around here that newegg doesnt post many negative reviews that is why you see a lot of postive reviews with bad things to say. I think newegg may have even admitted this, they are a business and they want to sell their products so it makes sense. Anyway thanks for showing me the benq though i havent seen it before and i am also in the market for an LCD. just wish i could afford two like you.

so what would you guys recommend I do? The benq looks realllly nice, and its 1094 shipped and has the extended newegg warranty for free. so I get everything I want with $6 to spare. They are supposedly on sale for 529 because I've seen them going for like 560-570 last week, so I want to jump on this NOW. but If i can get something better for the price, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP!!! I'm literally about to complete the order :)

thanks

I am typing this from a BenqFP991
It is excellent! My work ordered two one for myself & one for another co-worker. Both have no dead pixels or any defects.

I'm not sure what the difference is between to the FP991 and the FP951. When I was shopping around the FP991 was cheaper and they seemed to have the same specs.

cant return the Sceptre if it sucks, and its ugly as hell, plus the crappier warranty...

I think I'm gonna order the FP951 and see what happens. I could always return/sell if they arent what I want.

oh and the FP991 is out of my price range, although it looks VERY nice :)
only differences I can see are 300cd/m2 brighntess vs 250 on FP951, and it can rotate 90degrees which I would never use anyways...

so unless anyone has any other opinions, gonna order 2x FP951 :)

I ask because I'm $100 short in my available account balance on my check card, but I just deposisted a few hundred more but it wont showup until monday. safe to order it NOW?? I dont want them to run outta stock or change the price on me, which HAS happened to me numerous times before w/o warning.

THANKS for your quick response.

I dont really know about the newegg charging your card but i think the BenQ looks like a good monitor and will work with a dual monitor set up nicely. I am also very impressed by the price, when you get them make sure to let us know how they perform because now i want one.

Good Luck

Samsung also has a 19" LCD in the $550 price range http://www.newegg.com/app/SearchProductResult.asp?Submit=Go&DEPA=0

Do you notice any ghosting in games? D3/Farcry/etc... I don't play many FPS's just an occasional ET.
