The price, especially in CDN$$ is darn tempting. Never heard of the brand before though. Any good?

I've got a benq 40x that will not even let you burn at more than 16x.

I've never had a problem with TigerDirect.. I just don't understand the hatred (maybe they sucked years ago but I've gotten some killer deals from them)... Anyways, BENQ = Acer... Not sure if that's a good thing but remember that most optical drives are rebadged..Do some research to find out who makes the drive...

BTW: It's a dvd+R drive and not dvd-r drive.. I'd get either a combo drive or a dvd-r drive- media tends to be cheaper and, contrary to popular belief, it has greater market penetration... Toshiba had a rather cheap -r drive out there and the combos are coming down in price... Even a 2nd gen pioneer (A04/104) will be great and affordable...

flash the firmware

I have a few Benqs and have been satisfied, considering they were $15 AR. They do need firmware flashes and Benq used to be Acer. The ones I have are all Lite-on rebadges.

Lifetime rating at resellerratings is 5.66.

Why even order from them when there are so many better places to order from?

I have a Cendyne Rebadged Benq and mine burns at a full 48x :)

Just install nero 6.0.

Don't bother with firmware or anything.
