Benq 1655 dvd burner problem

I have only had this burner for a month and it works fine but I find it a bit loud and it doesn't appear to stop seeking the dvd even though I don't have apps utilizing it. Does this sound normal?
 
The newer BenQs are louder, but seeking when it's not being used...that i dunno.

I use AnyDVD, & amongst the other features is an option to set drive speed to Slow & Quiet, which works beautifully for movies 🙂
 
I updated to the latest firmware and it appears to have solved the 'hang' issue I was having. Funny thing is benq site doesn't have the latest firmware for 1655. Had to go to cdfreaks.com to find it.
