Hi Folks,

After troubleshooting a failed vid card I finally got my system up and running. When I booted the first time the cd tray opened. The button wouldn't close it so I closed it manually. Unfortunately the button would not open or close it thereafter. After trying a bunch of times it did finally open, with the disk inside still spinning!

Now every time I boot it opens the CD tray. The button will now close it but not work again until I reboot.

Is there some way to reset it?

hmmm... I've had a Lite-ON which died like this, after a forced reboot, and the tray kept ejecting. Are you still under warranty?

Doh, exactly - was right after I did a hard reboot. I put in the new card and at the post screen it said "Load system from CD" so I did a power off/on and right after the post screen but before Windows screen the tray popped out (and now it does it at that time, every time.)

No, not under Warranty. I just ordered a new burner from the Egg - hard to pass $35 with free shipping. I guess it will be fun taking the old one apart :)
