The man seems to exploit every musical technique I have ever learned of, all in such a short and bombastic little tune.
He has the fanfare, sets the stage, brings it down, builds it with a sort of syncopated style, and then goes all out again, in such an eloquent an well-executed style, that I can't help but see it as some sort of genius in its fantastic simplicity.
Sure jazz and swing are full of such techniques, coordinated exquisitely with the actual dancing, but I can't help but think that this piece is more than just a timeless classic...
anyone else think more of it?
