Benham Brothers Speak Out on HGTV Show Being Canned: We're Committed to Biblical Principles

David and Jason Benham issued a statement early Thursday in response to HGTV's decision to cancel their upcoming show, “Flip It Forward,” after reports came to light of the brothers’ past anti-LGBT ministry and political efforts.

“We were saddened to hear HGTV's decision,” the brothers wrote. “With all of the grotesque things that can be seen and heard on television today you would think there would be room for two twin brothers who are faithful to our families, committed to biblical principles, and dedicated professionals.”

“If our faith costs us a television show then so be it,” they added.

The Benhams said that criticism that they hated gays and lesbians was false or misconstrued.

“As Christians we are called to love our fellow man. Anyone who suggests that we hate homosexuals or people of other faiths is either misinformed or lying,” they wrote.

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/flashback-david-benham-described-homosexuality-demonic-warned-islam-taking-over-america

Right Wing Watch reported Tuesday that David Benham had led a prayer rally outside of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC in 2012, in which he told conservative radio host Janet Mefferd that America’s Christian majority must repent for tolerating “homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation” and “demonic ideologies tak[ing] our universities and our public school systems.” He also said his brother had joined him in the prayer protest. The group also claimed David leads protests outside of abortion clinics.

These guys are real fruit loops listen to all their apocalyptic end of days crap.

Flashback: David Benham Described Homosexuality As Demonic, Warned Islam Is Taking Over America
SUBMITTED BY Brian Tashman on Thursday, 5/8/2014 5:00 pm
When HGTV pulled the plug on a reality TV show starring North Carolina real estate dealers and brothers David and Jason Benham following a Right Wing Watch report on David’s anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-Muslim activism, David Benham insisted that the network withdrew support due to misinformation and “lying,” asserting that neither he nor his brother “hate homosexuals.”

Although Religious Right activists have been rushing to defend Benham, none has yet been able to explain how Right Wing Watch’s list of verbatim quotes from Benham constituted misinformation.

In fact, the interviews we featured in our post are just examples of Benham’s large portfolio of right-wing activism. Since writing our original post, we have found several other examples of Benham’s extremism.

Benham’s group refers to abortion rights as a “holocaust” and said that “the devil” was behind Roe v. Wade.

In a January 2012 interview, Benham explained his “love” for homosexuals when he suggested that gay people are under the control of “demonic forces,” arguing that once he succeeds in recriminalizing abortion, he will next defeat the “homosexual agenda” and Islam.

Benham was speaking with none other than Michael Brown, an anti-gay activist who has gone so far as to defend Uganda’s brutal homosexuality law and who leads a group which includes Benham as a board member.

Benham: We have the tools, we have the stones, we have the weapons, we’ve been faithful with the lion and bear stories, we’re charging at this Goliath called abortion and when we take Goliath down, I promise you, all of the church will start coming out of the caves. The homosexual agenda is next, tolerance towards radical Islam is next, we’re going to start taking these Goliaths down, we’re not afraid anymore.

Brown: To take them down means with the life of Jesus, light instead of darkness, life instead of death, transformation instead of bondage.

Benham: ‘Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities, rulers and authorities of darkness.’ We love these people and so we are not going to allow the demonic forces and agendas behind them to destroy life.

I'm not saying all Liberty University graduates are full of the crazy, but it's probably a good idea to check for that before starting a joint project with any.

Slowly but surely, cultural outrage over anti-gay rhetoric and slurs is becoming very bad for business. Take notice, social conservatives.

Christians - you are now black listed.

Religious freedom has met its match, and its homosexuality.

FTFY,

Stop assuming all Christians have some issue with homosexuals. We don't. Only bigots do.

your just an idiot. by the HGTV standard the pope couldn't be on their network because he's against gay marriage. The catholic church has tens if not hundreds of millions of followers. a vast majority of which would support the pope. Islam would have similar if not greater numbers.

And according to you and HGTV supporters, all those peoples beliefs are invalid.

They do for the show the HGTV is showing. Because they already aren't watching it.

retreat to your bubble. But the fact is being a homophobic bigot has nothing to do with Christianity. No outrage directed at Christians found, only outrage at bigots.

Also didn't know the pope was getting ready to host a show on HGTV. You have some awesome sources.

Meh. I don't care about either side. Both sides have crazy wacko extremes. On the one hand, HGTV can hire (or not) whoever it wants, and make whatever shows they want. Some people do spend too much time and energy mounting a useless agenda againt gay people.

On the other hand, leftists are tyrannical and totalitarian in trying to punish those that don't agree with them. Some do spend far too much time and energy mounting a useless agenda trying to make everyone love gay people or lose their jobs. Both sides have their crazed zealots that thinks it's a righteous cause to limit the rights of the other.

The way the left went after the Dixie Chicks for dissing Bush sure shows what you said to be true...

WTF? I always thought they were gay, just like everyone else on HGTV. I guess they just haven't come to terms with their sexuality yet.

You realize that it wasn't that long ago that it was the gays who were losing their jobs when they got outed, right? And not much longer before that that being gay was a crime? Which is how these clowns would like to see it be again. But I guess that's not tyrannical or totalitarian in your world, right?

You never fail to come up with the dumbest stuff. So because others acted in totalitarian ways against gays that justifies totalitarian witchhunts against people for not approving of gays? Since when did two wrongs make a right? (Knowing you, that whole concept probably has to be explained to you.)

Its funny how the Dixie Chicks are your go to example. Yeah, they lost their jobs and had their careers ruined. Oh wait, no they didn't. Meanwhile you totalitians tried to railroad a plumber -just an average person- for daring to ask your dear leader a question.

Looks a lot like Paulistas to me, note that almost all Christians of todays are Paulistas who couln't care less about Jesus's words.

Condemnation, judging of others and defamation, those are all Paulista tactics that no true Christian would EVER employ.

Real Christians know better than to judge others, they know it's up to God per Jesus's own words on the matter.

I don't think there is a single Christian on this forum but i do think there are atheists that are more Christian than the Paulistas.

How is HGTVs action here an example of a 'totalitarian witch hunt?'

Once more, pay attention. I already said HGTV can so whatever they like. Lets just pretend it's just this case, and not Chic-fil-a, Firefox and other cases where the totalitarian left has pushed an agenda against people guilty of nothing more than expressing a marriage view they don't agree with.
