Anyone heard about this dog food being recalled ? My moms dog has been eating it for 4 years and he has gotten sick a couple of times. Just read online that the FDA is going to recall it.

The dog has shivered a few times, had some issue lifting his hind leg when walking and recently has gotten orange fur around the snout and front paws.

Wondering what food to replace it with.

According to the FDA website, there are no recalls of Beneful dog foods and there are none shown on the list of recalls that covers 2007-2013. I find no news reports to indicate any recall. Please provide links to recall reports. Snopes link is below in post #4.

We've fed our 4-legged critters Iams food for almost 20 years. Never a problem that we've been aware of.

Yeah lots of pets have gotten sick from it. I'm not sure why it hasn't been recalled especially if it's likely to cause renal failure. Lucky my mom's bichon will eat any other type so the transition won't be hard.

Many times he's been unexpectedly sick and diarrhea plus vomiting too. Nothing would change in his schedule for walking or being cleaned, fed, it was most likely this food.

Even if there isn't a recall I would take the opportunity to move to a good food. Most of the major brands like Beneful, Iams, Science Diet, etc are basically garbage. There a quite a few different sites online with reviews of the various food options.

I find it easiest to prepare good meals for my wife and myself & to get the dogs leftovers. Balanced leftovers - meat AND veggies, some grains.

Been feeding the puppy the Beneful Puppy recipe for the 4 months since I've had him. He got really sick once, thought he may have had parvo, but turned out it wasn't. He hasn't been sick since.

been using beneful puppy for my corgi for the last 8 months. he's puked many times over the months but he also eats a ton of garbage off the ground (other dog's poop, acorns, sticks, stones, weeds, etc) and I assumed it was just that.

I found a pretty decent compromise in Costco's higher tier pet food

I'm a member of costco and I don't think I've ever seen kirkland brand dog food. they usually have purina stuff at the one closest to me.

It's not Kirkland, it's Nature's Domain brand...

Where are the Nature's Domain™ Pet Foods made?

Nature's Domain™ is made by Diamond Pet Foods in three company owned manufacturing facilities, all in the United States. One is located in California, one in Missouri and one in South Carolina.

$2k to amputate the outside toe on her hind leg that developed some kind of bone infection around 2 years ago. A few rounds of antibiotics didn't work. She was constantly licking at it and making her leg raw. She's been perfectly fine since and is probably the healthiest 12 year old dog I've ever seen.

We feed her Merrick Whole Earth Senior dog food. Around $1.00/lb on Amazon and has one of the better ingredient lists I could find.

I think my mother got him pedigree for now. I think I'll get him some natures domain or something else I can get at the stores.

The most expensive vet bill was about 1k for a checkup when he was sick. They charged about 100 for initial checkup then 200 for some fluids and $700 for blood work. Ridiculous how much it costs.

I didn't mean to say there is a recall what I meant by the OP was if anyone else has heard of this.
