What is the major benefits of changing from standard socket 939 amd 64, to an opteron socket 939? Will my Asus a8n5x be compatible with any opteron chip?

Any info is appreciated!!

Yes, your mobo will be compatible.

The benefits are the fact that the opty is likely to overclock higher.

It also has a 1MB cache but your chip may well already have a 1MB cache, i'm not sure without knowing more details about your present CPU.

my cpu has a 512k current cache.

So the asus board i have should be able to handle a better OC?

I ask this because my last nvidia neo 2plat. Only Oc'ed to 235, although it could be my current cpu limiting as well.
