Benefits of 1080p TV ?

50" Plasma for sure. That's what I have and I LOVE it. There's no point in getting a 1080p for several years. By the time it's mainstream and worth buying, I'll end up with a new TV anyway and move this one to a bedroom or something 😀

Rage, thanks for pointing out my oversight 😉 You may have made the decision easier

Only issue now is that the Zenith only has 1 HDMI in and NO DVI in. My HD DVR will use the HDMI, but what will my upconverting (through DVI only) dvd player use ?

edit: it seems the 42" Westy in being phased out to make way for the 47" 1080p tv. My BB has not had them in stock for over a month, and now they won't even take orders for delivery.

I believe some networks still use 720p. So what are the real benefits of 1080p over a 1366x768p TV ?

No they can't do 1080p yet because the connection isn't capable of such high bandwidth.

1080p content takes less bandwidth than an analog channel.

Yep....one analog channel uses 168 mbps, that's a lot more then the 19.8 mbps for HDTV.

but u know those networks are goddamned stingy. they are still convinced they should use the extra bandwidth for extra sd channels and scuh...as if they have enough content to fill 1 channel with decent material..let alone 3
