benefit of hdr video? magiclantern on canon t21

installed this on my 550d (t2i in the us i think) and noticed the option for hdr video. it flickers like crazy on playback on a pc so not really watchable. so what's the point of it?

You are supposed to run the HDR video through a VirtualDub program to strip out the alternating frames and blend them.

wonder if there's a photomatix type thing for this or is it fiddling in premier etc

I haven't tried it out yet myself, but I might if it matures and I hear good things. Apparently it helps with shooting video in low light.
