This morning I was driving to the trail and listening to KFOG - probably the only Bay Area station that plays a variety of music, as opposed to strict formatted playlists that are playing on all the other FM frequencies around here.

The station is based in SF, and is very SF-events oriented. This weekend was a Pride Weekend, and, naturally, KFOG has been laying the sauce on so heavy you could choke - from "10 at 10" dedicated to Pride, to Accoustic Sunrise dedicated to Pride, to DJ banter talking about gay this and gay that - you get the picture.

And then one thing really irked me: the DJ comes on and starts with "I think we need a gay history lesson right now. And before we begin, full disclosure: I am a mother of two, fully heterosexual, breeder...."

Breeder? Really? You need to introduce whatever you are about to say on the air by apologizing to your gay audience and you denigrating yourself? If it needs a disclosure from you, then maybe it wasn't necessary, and just keep on playing the music. But if you do feel the need to say something, don't belittle yourself as if being a hetero is something you regret.

I think things like that do a disservice to everyone.

I just needed to vent somewhere.
