Has anyone gotten a brand new Thermaltake Volcano 7+ heatsink with the fins slightly bended?
I am requesting an exchange...
I got this from PC Club Internet Store...
Or should i just let it go and use the d@mn thing?
I know that the air flow won't be as good as if the fins are perfectly straight...

I dont own one either but I would send it back. If the fins arent straight the airflow will not be correct. Also if you tried to bend the fins back and couldnt that tells me something hit that sucker with a pretty good ammount of force.

I think it was manufactured that way cause all the tiny fins were bended the same way...and there were no apparent scratch or dents on the fins...

Can you take a pic of the bent fins?

I have one also and some are bent on the end but all are easy to bend back in place. But depending how they are bent you may have to remove the fan and use a thin sturdy object like a knife to get them back in place.

I got one when it first came out (paid a lot for it). The last fin was slightly bent in (so that there was only a small air gap there). But it doesn't seem to matter; at lowest speeds my V7+ keeps my CPU within 8C of my ambient (idle, of course). And it runs much quieter and just as well as my V6Cu+ (with straight fins).

i think you were correct in your first assumption that it was manufactured like that. i remember reading (correct me if i'm wrong) that the manufacturing process was called "scalloping". all the fins are supposed to be uniformly slightly curved. supposed to actually aid the airflow somewhat. as long as they all are slightly curved and not just one or two that are jacked up, i think it's ok.
