does good on some benchmarks, while on others gets creamed by xeons. opteron's not optomized at all compared to xeon. major diff between athlon64 and opteron is opteron has 3 hypertransport links compared to 1 for a64, used for communication between southbridge and pci-x controller. northbridge not used since memory controller is on die. tests are all 32bits.
