I don't think it's that fast, unless you were discussing 970M. 980M should be faster than M295X.

GameGPU reports that M295X is an Ametist XT codename (weird translation?), 2048 CUDA cores, 5500mhz memory, 256-bit bus, 4GB VRAM and around 800mhz GPU clocks.

AMD uses different codenames for their mobile chips, for whatever reason. It's still Tonga.

The most disappointing part of the Arstechnica review was the fact that Windows apparently can't handle the monitor's native resolution (it only goes up to 4K). Hopefully this will be fixed quickly, since for many users it will be a deal-breaker.
