Is there any free benchmarking software out their to test my own machine. I just read the article on the unreal engine and was wondering if it's possible to do the same benchmark with my system. I'm interested in where my system stands with the current systems out there.

Read what it says in the Unreal benchmark. It is a future (beta) engine and is not available to the public. Generally most people use things like Quake III timedemo's, Serious Sam, and 3dMark for benchmarking. Try madonion.com for 3dmark, which I believe has a free and pay (Pro) version.
