I tried using Everest Home Edition, and 3DMark06, but the latter won't install and the former isn't giving me any temperatures. Anyone know if this is a problem because of the 64 bit OS, or is something else wrong with my system? Thanks.

i am running 3dmark06 on vista 64bit with no trouble at all. what error are you getting? the new 3dmark vantage is made specifically for vista you might want to try that

Weird, I wonder what's wrong with my system then?

I tried installing 3dMark and it told me it might not have installed properly, and there was no directory for it and no icons so I'm assuming it isn't there. The setup file no longer works, I click it, get the little loading circle for a few seconds, and then nothing.

Everest runs okay, but it leaves out a lot of information. The first time I started it, it gave me just CPU temps, and now I'm not even getting that. It also says my MB is unknown, is there a way to get it to recognize it? I'm trying to figure out my GPU temps so I can set up the fan speeds and performance options properly without burning out the card.

Not sure... Make sure all your drivers(including chipset) are fully updated, and set your hd to IDE mode(in BIOS) if it isn't. AHCI is more modern, but it can cause some peculiar problems in my experience.

are you using the latest version of everest? if it is too old modern stuff will not be seen by it. about 3dmark06, have you tried downloading it again?

I was using whatever version of Everest they linked on their site, I just tried reinstalling it, and it told me I didn't have a digitally signed driver and it might not work properly. Before the error message, it would display the HD temp, but afterwards the sensor page is blank. This is the third thing that hasn't worked for me because of the digitally signed drivers, is there a way to not require them?

I haven't tried downloading 3dmark again because I have an awful internet connection, but I'll give it another shot.

All my drivers are up to date, but my BIOS is one release behind but I don't know if it's worth the risk of flashing it. The new one has this as it's discription:
1. Support DES Advanced
2. Update CPU microcode(Support Intel Wolfdale/Yorkfield E0-stepping CPU)
I don't think my E8500 has E0-stepping, but I don't know what DES is, should I bother upgrading?

I just tried Everest Ultimate, and it's showing me everything except the 4850 temps, but there is an AUX label with a picture of a monitor next to it, and temp of 36. Is that the monitor, it seems too low for the 4850? It still doesn't recognize my MB, but everything else is good. I'm still trying to download 3dMark Vantage, will that give me the GPU temps?
