Benchmarking numbers low...need some tweaks and\or adjustments

Running Sandra on my Maxtor 7200 ATA100 returns numbers that seem a little low. These are the numbers:

Buffered Read: 49MB/s
Sequential read: 36MB/s
Random Read: 6MB/s
Buffered Write: 30MB/s
Sequential Write: 15MB/s

Are these numbers low? It gave the tip that my write speed was low and that I should uncheck the "verify write?"...where is that? Device Manager?

On to 3dmark2001...my score was 2200 which is about 800-1000 below other comparable systems I have seen on here and other places. My system is:

Asus A7V133 w\TBird 1GHz
2x 256 PC133 CAS3 Crucial SDRAM
Hercules Prophet GeForce 2 Mx
Maxtor 7200 ATA100 45 GB
SB Live! No comments please

Any ideas as to what I can do to speed it up a bit?

Don't go by the Sandra Disk bench. Get hardrive tach.

Where can I find that? I couldn't find it a Tweakfiles or Shareware.com.

Heh...thanks, guess I didn't look very well.

Anyone else have any ideas behind my low 3dMark score?
